RERA – Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act governs real estate transactions and mandates registration of real estate agents with state-level regulatory authorities.

Registration of Real Estate Agents
Real estate agents are the backbone of the real estate industry, facilitating transactions between builders and buyers. Under RERA, registration is mandatory and agents are issued a registration number valid for five years.
Agents are liable for penalties in case of misrepresentation, which may extend up to ₹10,000 per day or 5% of the total project cost. Agents are also required to maintain proper books of accounts.
